The Before

The focus of this renovation was to update the kitchen to work for the client’s multi-generational family. Aside from the obvious impractically of the island cooktop, harsh fluorescent lighting boxes and dozens of tiny cabinets that made organizing nightmarish - these clients really just wanted somewhere beautiful to be in their new home after relocating from California.

We focused on working within the existing footprint of the kitchen, only taking down the pantry walls to use that space for more cabinetry and the ability to elongate the island. We removed the empty soffits to add additional vertical storage by bringing the upper cabinets to the ceiling which allowed us to use some of the space to create a subtle statement vent hood without sacrificing the family’s storage capacity. By selecting a range over the separate cooktop and ovens we were able to maximize their lower cabinets with plenty of drawers and add a large custom pantry.
